Obituary

Miron Lee Spencer, fifth child of the late J. H. and Idaletta Spencer, passed away at Clinton Veterans Home, Saturday, April 6.

Mike, as he was known, was born in Ohio on July 25, 1896. Moving to a farm in Jackson township, Madison county, with his parents when four years of age, he attended public school and graduated from the Earlham Academy.

He was a mechanic by trade and worked a number of years in Dexter and Cedar Rapids.

Mike enlisted in the United States Army and saw action in France.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Baker of Walker, Iowa, on June 9, 1930, who preceded him in death in August of 1959. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill of Oskaloosa and Howard of Earlham.

Last rites were held Wednesday morning at the National Cemetery at Rock Island, Illinois. He is survived by five brothers: Frank of Chula Vista, California, Dr. J. A. of Woodward, Lloyd of Iowa City, Herbert of Adel, Tom of Oak Grove, Missouri; three sisters: Lola Mills of Palmetto, Florida, Dorothy Stotts of Wichita, Kansas, and Mary Beeson of Earlham; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
