Pg 1Died, Mrs. Abigail R. Greene, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Whitworth, near Macksburg, Iowa, June 30th, of heart failure, in the 84th year of her age. Deceased had been ailing for a long time but was able to be around the house assisting in the ordinary duties of the household. Her immediate and fatal illness was of short duration.
She was born in Harkelton, Union county, Pennsylvania, October 8, 1813, and was married to J. A. Green in the same town Nov. 5, 1837. To them were born five children, three sons and two daughters, all of whom survive her. Mrs. Greene became a devoted Christian at the age of ten years. At that time she united with the Baptist church and remained a faithful member until death.
The funeral was conducted at the Baptist church and was largely attended by relatives and friends of the deceased. Rev. Saulter preached the funeral sermon. The remains were interred in the Moon cemetery.
