Death of F. W. BURGER

F. W. Burger, brother of August Burger of Jefferson township died in Des Moines on last Thursday. His demise will cause sincere regret among his friends and former neighbors in Jefferson township of this county, his former home. The following notice of his death is from the Des Moines Register and Leader.

F. W. Burger died at the home of his son, W. L. Burger, of 1533 Main street, yesterday after a lingering illness. He was prominent in Des Moines business circles for several years. Three years ago he went to Colorado and was there overtaken by sickness from which he never recovered. He was 63 years of age and was born in Germany.

He leaves a wife, father, three brothers and a son and daughter. His brother, C. G. Burger, lives here, as does his son, W. L. Burger. His daughter, Mrs. W. L. Hoovy, lives at Oakland, Cal. His father and two brothers live in Madison county.

He came to Des Moines fifteen years ago, settling when he first came from the old country, in Madison county. He ran the I.X.L. restaurant for several years, established the Imperial cafe at the Wellington, and conducted the Morgan hotel for five years. He was a member of the Crocker post, having been a soldier in the Fifteenth Iowa.

His burial will be held at the family graveyard six miles south of Van Meter on Saturday.

A Former Resident of Winterset Dies

F. W. Burger, a former resident of Winterset, died at the home of his son, W. L. Burger, in Des Moines, last Thursday after a long illness. Mr. Burger conducted a meat market for many years on the southwest corner of the square and was well known here. Mr. Burger moved from this place to Des Moines about fifteen years ago where he engaged in the hotel and restaurant business. He went to Colorado about three years ago on account of his health but secured no benefit and returned to Des Moines.

The funeral occurred Friday and the remains were interred in the old family cemetery in Jefferson township.
