Alma Rose Bruett, 88,of Des Moines, died peacefully, Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Alma was born near Winterset, Ia on September 24, 1919, to William Everett and Edna Adeline (Brown) Hendricks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Bruett, and two brothers Otto and Harold Hendricks.
Alma was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and cooking. Her hobbies included reading, volunteering and gardening. Alma was an active member of the Highland Park Christian Church for over 60 years.
She is survived by her four children, Bill (Tina) Bruett, Sue (Richard) Van Houten, Mary Rose (Dennis) O'Brien, and Cyndi (Gary) Pannkuk and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Highland Park Christian Church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to HPCC and Mercy Hospice Johnston.
Hamilton’s near Highland Memory gardens will be handling arrangements.
Note: Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery.
