Mrs. Jane Landis in the 83 year of her age, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Simpson, in the evening of January 20th, and the remains were taken to Menard county, Illinois, for interment. They were accompanied by her grandson, J. W. Simpson, her daughter not being able because of her own illness to go along as was the urgent desire of the deceased.

Mother Landis during her short residence in Iowa, mostly in this city, endeared to herself many true friends who quickly learned to lave and respect her for her exemplified Christianity. She was devoutly religious and approaching dissolution had no terrors for her well prepared heart.

Mrs. Landis died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Simpson Wednesday a.m. with pneumonia fever. She was taken to her old home in Illinois for burial Thursday.
