Former Local Teacher Dies

Mrs. Victor Peterson of Red Oak, a former Winterset and Madison county resident, died this Monday, Jan. 11 at Valley Baptist hospital in Harlingen, Tex. She was 62 years of age.

Mrs. Peterson was the former Florence Elderkin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Elderkin. She graduated from Winterset high school and for many years taught rural school in Madison county, and in the Winterset schools.

For the last 20 years her home had been at Red Oak, where she was member of the Red Oak Presbyterian church.

She is survived by her husband, of Red Oak, a daughter Mrs. John Pojman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Brueck, Jr., of Battle Creek, Mrs. John Holley of Nevada, and Mrs. Tom Newton of Des Moines; and a brother, Frank Elderkin of Winterset.

Funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian church at Red Oak, with burial in the Red Oak cemetery.
