Lee Stewart Died Thursday

Lee Stewart of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Thursday, Jan. 7, at Memorial hospital here. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. Stewart was a well-known farmer in the Macksburg community during most of his active life. He moved into Winterset in 1960.

He was born in Grand River township on July 31, 1883, a son of Adams P. and Elizia Lee Stewart. He was married at Creston March 8, 1911, to Gladys Alexander, who survives him.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Marion L. Stewart of Creston; a granddaughter, Marcia Stewart; and a sister, Mrs. W. R. Cameron of Kansas City, Mo.

One son, Billy J. Stewart, was killed in action while serving with the U. S. armed forces during World War II.

Funeral services were held Saturday from Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
