PAUL GENE BOUSFIELD

SIOUX CITY — The Rev. Paul Bousfield, age 82, of Fort Dodge, entered Eternal LIfe on June 11, 2008. Paul was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Parker, S.D., third child to Clarence “Elmer” and Jessie Bousfield. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Dakota, a Master of Theology from Iliff School of Theology and a Nursing Home Administrator’s license from DMACC.

Paul served God as a United Methodist pastor at churches in South Dakota, Colorado and Iowa, then served as Executive Director of Friendship Haven until his retirement in 1991.

Paul loved traveling and camping, gardening, woodworking and spending time with family members.

He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Ann, wife of nearly 59 years, and his three children, Linda “Lin” Phillips (Raymond “Skip”) of Norwalk, Deborah Wiese (Allen) of Indianola, and David Bousfield (Jane) of Iowa City, 5 grandchildren, a great-grandson, his sister Ellen Strauss of Sioux Falls, S.D., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Clarence.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Trimble United Methodist Church in Sioux City beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, followed by interment at Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion, S.D. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa, at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, Friendship Haven Care Trust Fund, or Trinity Hospice, all of Fort Dodge, or the Alzheimer’s Association. Rev. Paul had requested those attending his Celebration of Life service be asked to bring canned and boxed goods for the Lord’s Cupboard.

Transcriber's note: Rev. Bousfield was a minister in the United Methodist Church in Winterset for several years in the 1970's and was well known in the area.
