John D. (Jack) Walker, 81, of Truro, IA formerly of Des Moines passed away peacefully on June 19, 2008 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 23 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with burial following at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cumming. A visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. with a vigil 7 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home.

John served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 35 years of government service. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed being with his family, traveling and talking with people.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie; four daughters, Rosemary Bacon (Willard) of Des Moines, Jacalyn Mathis (James) of Maxwell, Janet Ades (John) of Norwalk and Terri DeAngelis (Chuck) of Truro; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and his brother Richard of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Rose Walker and brother, James.
