Obituary

Lucy A. Williams, daughter of Milton and Debra Williams, was born December 22, 1870 near Pleasant Plain, Iowa, and was called to her heavenly home on the evening of August 20, 1961, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Her girlhood days were spent near Pleasant Plain and Richland and at the age of thirteen moved with her parents and other members of the family to Nebraska.

She was united in marriage to William H. Ellis on May 22, 1892 and made their home in Nebraska. In the establishment of a Christian home they very early began the custom of worship about the family altar.

Two boys, Gene and Clay, came to bless this home. In the spring of 1906 they moved to Iowa to the Bear Creek neighborhood. They lived in the Bear Creek and Earlham communities until her husband’s passing in February 1936.

She was a member of the Friends church, also a member of the Burden Bearers Sunday School class, and the Earlham Missionary Society, the Ladies Aid Society and the Earlham Community Prayer group. She was a faithful consistent Christian who was very interested in the church and its activities and was always faithful in attendance as long as her health permitted. Kindness and love were the attributes of her character.

She has been in failing health for some time, but bore her physical suffering with a beautiful spirit. Her faith in Christ never wavered.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two sons and wives, Gene of Redfield and Clay of Dexter; also three grandchildren Junior of Buffalo, Minnesota; Laurence of Rockwell City, Iowa and Betty (Mrs. I. S. Kiehm) of Phoenix, Arizona; and seven great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
