Winterset Madisonian – January 5, 1897

Obituary

Scot Breman, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Breman, was born January 6, 1880, and died November 11, 1896, being 16 years, 10 months and 5 days old.

He joined the Christian church, in Des Moines, when 13 years old, and was also a member of the Christian Endeavor Society.

His mother died when he was quite young, and he was left to battle with this cold, sinful world, without the kind and tender care of a loving mother. But with a father’s loving care, and the kind instruction of grandparents and his step-mother , he learned to walk in that straight and narrow way. He moved to Madison county with his parents. Feeling it his duty to be identified with the Christian people, he united with the United Brethren church at this place. By his kind and loving way he won the friendship of all, and when it seemed to us that we could not get along without him, the hand of death was laid upon him, and he is gone. We miss him; we cannot see him in our Y.P.C.U.; we cannot hear his loving voice in our song service. But he said he was going home, and we believe he is singing the songs of the Redeemer.

Note: Burial was made in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
