"GONE to REST"

On Wednesday, December the 22nd, Mrs. Nancy Anna Pearcy Barker died at her home, East Poling Street, aged 75 years, 11 months, and 27 days. A general decline in health as a result of age being the cause. Many here and at Stafford will long remember "Grand Ma", as she has been familiarly called for years. The funeral was held at the house conducted by Rev. Stanley of this place and Rev. Booze of Okla. After which the remains were taken by train and laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Stafford, beside her husband who had preceeded her near ten years, having gone to rest and reward on Jan. 7, 1900.

"Grand Ma" leaves the Barker brothers, W.P., A.C. with whom she lived, J.L. Barker of Washington, E.C. Barker now of this place, Mrs. A.J. Sponsler of this place, and Mrs. Ella Booze of Aline Okla., one son J.S., and one daughter, Mrs. D.C. Herndon having preceeded her to the "Home Beyond". Her religious belief was that of the Baptist having been converted and uniting with that church at the age of twenty years. Rev. Abel Bond being in charge conducted a short service at the cemetery.

Brought Here for Burial

Mrs. Nancy A. Barker, aged 76 years, died at her home in Macksville, this county, last Wednesday of pneumonia, following an illness of some weeks duration. The remains were brought here for burial Friday morning and interrment was made in Stafford cemetery. Rev. A.J. Bond of the Friends church conducted a short funeral service at the grave. The funeral proper had been preached at Macksville. Mrs. Barker and family used to live in Stafford and she will be kindly remembered by not a few friends and acquaintances. She was a good, kindly old soul and everyboby who knew her intimately liked her. She never was strong in body and it seems remarkable that she lived to such a ripe old age.

She was born in Virginia but has been a resident of this state for many years-in fact is one of the pioneer residents.
