WAYNE REED, Van Meter

Wayne Reed, 74, died Wednesday, July 16 at Mercy Hospital. At his request, his body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel. The burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near DeSoto. Friends may call after 2 p.m Thursday at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Wayne was born January 12, 1934 to Clyde and Florence Brown Reed in Perry, IA. He attended a country school East of Adel and graduated from Adel High School. He was in the U.S. Marine Corp for two years serving in Korea and Japan.

Wayne married Grace Deer on June 23, 1956. They farmed in Dallas, Warren, Clarke, and Madison counties. To this union two daughters were born. Teresa Armstrong and Sandy Von Ruden.

Wayne is survived by his wife Grace; daughters, Teresa (Tim) Armstrong and Sandy (Mike) Von Ruden; grandson, Jason (Crystal) Armstrong; granddaughter, Jenny (Pete) Palmer; great granddaughter, Haylee Palmer; brother, David Reed; sisters, Alma Prouty, Beverly Farrow, Jo Blanchard, and Barbara Pete.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Merle (Buzz) Reed; sisters, Leona (Lou) Whitecotton, Doris Samuel, Lucy Ulrich, and twin sister Wanda Schneider.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Post 403 in Van Meter or the Iowa Heart Center at Mercy Medical Center.
