Obituary

Hugh Roy Neff

A resident of Fullerton, California for 13 years, Hugh Roy Neff, 78, died Saturday, February 20, in his home after a coronary attack.

Born in Earlham, April 9, 1881, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Blanche P. Neff; a son, Hugh D. Neff, of Glendale, California; four daughters, Mrs. Opal P. McLaughlin, of Des Moines; Mrs. Ruby B. Phelps, of Hill City, Kansas; Mrs. Norma P. Odisio, of Pasadena, California; and Mrs. Beverly L. Sepe of Glendale.

Mr. Neff also leaves a brother, Byron D. Neff of Leroy, N.Y.; a sister, Carrie Lehman of Columbus, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 25, in Fullerton, Cal. Burial was in Memory Garden Memorial Park.

Hugh Roy Neff

Hugh Roy Neff was born in Penn Township, Madison County, Iowa, April 9, 1881, son of Isaac D. Neff and Nancy J. Neff and departed from this life February 20, 1960 at his home in Fullerton, California. He received his education in the Earlham Academy, graduating with the class of 1902.

He was united in marriage with Blanche Powell on January 27, 1914 and they established their home in Imperial Valley, California, returning to Earlham where he lived until 1941. Five children, one son, and four daughters came to bless this home.

In September 1941 he moved to Pomona, California where he lived five years. In 1946 he moved to Fullerton, California working with the orange packing companies, retiring four years ago at the age of 75. For many years he was a general trucker in and around Earlham.

A member of the Christian church in Earlham, he transferred his membership to the First Christian church in Pomona, California. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Blanche; his son, Hugh D. Neff of Glendale, California; four daughters, Opal P. McLaughlin, Des Moines, Iowa; Ruby B. Phelps, Hill City, Kansas; Norma P. Odisio, Pasadena, California; Beverly L. Sepe, Glendale, California. Also one sister, Carrie Lehman of Columbus, Ohio and one brother Byron D. Neff of Leroy, New York, eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

True to high ideals he was loved and respected by many lasting friends. His home was his castle. A kind, loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his family.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 25, 2:00 p.m. at the Walters and McCormick Mortuary. Officiating was Rev. Carlton C. Buck, pastor of the First Christian Church of Fullerton. Burial was in Memory Gardens, Memorial Park in Brea, California.
