ROBERT RINGGENBERG Winterset

Robert Ringgenberg, 87, of Winterset, Iowa, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset. Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating. Burial was in Winterset Cemetery.

Bob was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Alleman, Iowa, to Arthur and Ann (Parmenter) Ringgenberg. A resident of Winterset since 1937, he graduated from Winterset High School in 1938. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and, upon returning home, married Dorothy Fay Carder of Des Moines, Iowa. Bob had been a lifetime farmer, retiring in 1975. He also owned a gas station and tire shop in Winterset, working with Curt Alexander and his son-in-law, Jim Morris. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 8142 and the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed family Sunday dinners, playing cards, fishing and raising cattle — along with his farming. He and Dorothy also enjoyed dancing, especially at Lake Robbins.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Judy (Jim) Morris of Peru, Iowa; a brother, Dr. Jack (Connie) Ringgenberg of Harlingen, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Klonglan of Huxley, Iowa, and Leona Ringgenberg of Windsor Heights, Iowa; grandchildren, Jody Lynne Morris and SSGT James R. Morris; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Hoy and Alexis Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ann; and wife, Dorothy Ringgenberg.

Visitation was held Sunday at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Memorials will be directed to his family for future designation.
