Services for Gaylord E. Huitt, 70, Winterset, who died of a stroke Monday, July 22, 1985, at Veterans Administration Medical center in Des Moines, were held Saturday morning, July 27 at Panora Christian church. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Mr. Huitt was born in Panora and lived in Des Moines 11 years. He retired in 1978 from Lawnmower Sales and Service. He previously had worked as a school bus driver for the Winterset School District.
He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Des Moines Lapidary Society and Madison County Rock Hounds.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, June Payne of Milford, Mich.; sons, Gail of Anaheim, Calif., and Norman of Des Moines; his mother, Iva Moore of Des Moines; sisters, Wilma Bacon of Panora, Arlene Gifford of Winfield, Mo., Jeanne Throckmorton of Arvada, Colo., and Marjorie Van Camp of Isabelle, Mo.; brothers, Robert of South Windham, Mo., and Claire of Des Moines; and six grandchildren.
