HARRY DOBBS, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Graveside services for Lt. Col. Harry Dobbs, 85, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., who died at North Beach Hospital at Ft. Lauderdale on May 3, 1988, were held at the Winterset Cemetery on May 9 with the Rev. Maurice J. Schulte officiating. Regular services were held at Ft. Lauderdale on May 6.

Born in New York City, on April 18, 1903, he was a retired Navy commander, engineer and builder. He was a member of the 579th construction battalion and served in North Africa, the Pacific Theater, Italy and Okinawa.

He was a graduate of the University of Michigan engineering school in 1925 and was responsible for converting a building in Massachusetts into a facility where the famous Norden bomb sight was constructed.

Survivors include two sisters, Dora Keisey and Esther Mintz, both of Perth Banjor, N.J. And his wife, Helen, who is a sister of the late Celia Sawyer of Winterset and brother-in-law of John K. Sawyer, formerly of Winterset.
