Elmer C. Feuring, 90, of Winterset died June 26, 2008, at Winterset Care Center North.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Jim Howland officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice. Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
Elmer Feuring was born Nov. 3, 1917, to Raymond and Kate (Nolte) Feuring of Fontanelle. His marriage to Ethel Irene Holtzman took place March 15, 1939, in Bethany, Mo. A resident of Winterset since 1976, Elmer had farmed and also was a service supervisor for Farmers Hybrid. Following Irene’s death in 1994, he later married Violet Brunner on June 22, 1996. He was a lifetime member of the I.O.O.F., Madison County Coon Hunters Association, and current member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He also had been a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene; two brothers, Rudolph Feuring and Warren Feuring; and two sisters, Alice Keller and Naomi Bussey.
He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Campbell of Waverly; two sons, Fred Feuring of Winterset and Ron Feuring of Council Bluffs; a sister, Violet Couch of Des Moines; and six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
