MRS. ELIZABETH HUFFMAN

Elizabeth McConnell was born Nov. 13, 1838 in Washington county, Pennsylvania, where she lived the first thirty years of her life. In 1870 she was united in marriage to Isaac C. Huffman who departed this life some four years ago. Her early life was spent in Missouri, coming to this state in 1877, residing near Winterset until in recent years when they removed to Des Moines.

To this union three children were born, two of whom survive her: George I. Huffman of Arcola, Texas and Mrs. Ella Wright of Des Moines, with whom Mrs. Huffman lived, and at whose home she passed away on March 1, 1916, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 18 days. Besides the son and daughter mentioned above, Mrs. Huffman leaves four grand daughters, one sister and four brothers to mourn her loss. Mrs. Huffman united with the Methodist Episcopal church in early girlhood, and has lived a true and devoted Christian life.

A funeral service was held from the Wesley Methodist church in Des Moines, conducted by Dr. W. E. McDade at 1 p.m. Saturday, when the remains were shipped to Winterset. Another service was held on Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church of this city, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. M. Cable, and all that was mortal of this well loved mother, sister and friend was laid to rest in the Rock City cemetery.
