JOHN GRAY

John Gray was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, April 17, 1839 and departed this life, Jan. 9, 1916, age 76 years, 8 months, 23 days.

He was first married to Sarah A. Dugan, Dec. 6, 1860. To this union were born seven children: E. E. Gray of Odon, Ind., and J. F. Gray of Perry, Iowa, alone surviving. He was married to Mary I. Baker, June 27, 1891. To this union three children were born: Forest, who died in infancy; Mrs. W. C. Foster of Winnebago, Minn., and Arlie, who remains at home.

He moved to Indiana in 1863. In 1880 he moved to Iowa, settling in Dallas county, afterwards moving to Madison county, where he lived 14 years, leaving the farm last January and moving to Winnebago, Minn.

The deceased leaves two brother, Isaac of Brule, Nebr., and George of Tower City, N.D.; one sister, Mrs. R. Sims, who made her home with her brother; also two step-children, C. A. Baker of Ness City, Kans., and Mrs. H. Pulman of Minneapolis, Minn.

In his youth he united with the M. E. church. He was a loving husband and father and lived an honest and upright life.

Services were held at the home in Winnebago and the body taken to Perry, Iowa, where services were held and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.

Note: Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry, Dallas Co. Iowa.
