JONATHAN ULUM

Jonathan Ulum was born in Licking county, Ohio, March 24, 1845 and died at Patterson, Iowa, Jan. 31, 1916 at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 7 days.

At the age of ten he moved to Iowa with his parents and settled at Solon. He enlisted at Iowa City, on March 24, 1865 in Co. H. 22d Iowa Vol. Inf. He was married to Miss Helen M. Horton of Licking county, Ohio, Dec. 26, 1867. They lived in Johnson county until 1893, when they moved to Nevada, Iowa. Since the death of Mrs. Ulum, he had made his home with his children.

He is survived by two children, Grant Ulum of Clear Lake and Mrs. A. W. Frey of Patterson; also by two brothers, Will Ulum of Perry and Luther Ulum of Keswick.

Short services were held at the home of his daughter near Patterson, Tuesday afternoon, after which the remains were taken to Nevada for burial, funeral services being held at the Methodist church, of which he was a member. Interment was under the auspices of the G.A.R.
