BERNARD KNOX

"God has given, and God has taken away." The untimely death of Bernard Knox, son of James H. & Susan Taylor Knox, at the age of 18 years, 6 months and 18 days, he being born Sept. 30, 1897, caused the deepest sorrow in the entire community.

His life was spent on the farm with his parents, where he grew up into that type of noble young manhood, which commands the honor and respect of all with whom he came in contact. He was a member of the Worthington M. E. church, and his daily life was an emblem of true christianity, living each day the life of a true hearated, whole hearted boy, with a kind word and a smile that went to your heart. His presence was a light and a benefit to all, for he spread the blesed sunshine whereaver he went. His early education was secured in the rural schools, after which he attended the Earlham academy, being enrolled in his second year's work. While in high school, his kind words and pleasant manner won for him the friendship of all his fellow students. His true Christian spirit also fitted him in a noble way to enter that house not built with hands, eternal in the heavens.

He was taken ill with plura-pneumonia about four weeks ago, but his condition was not considered serious until the last few days. Everything possible was done to relieve his suffering, but on Tuesday morning he passed away into that undiscovered country, from whose border no traveler returns.

Besides his bereaved parents, he leaves six sisters and three brothers: Lois, Bernice, Anice, Elizabeth, Jessie and his twin sister, Edith, William and Granville at home and Ray of Limon, Colo.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Weyrauch on Thursday afternoon at 2:30. The services being held at the Worthington church, after which the remains were taken to Earlham and laid to rest in the city cemetery.
