Wednesday, May 16, 1973DICK McCAULEY Dies at 80 Years
Dick McCauley of Winterset, a Madison County resident for three quaraters of a century, died Wednesday, May 9, 1973, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was 80 years of age.
Alexander Dick McCauley was a native of Altoona, where he was born October 8, 1892, a son of Alexander and Rebecca Montgomery McCauley. For 19 years he was employed as a custodian in the Winterset schools and for six years served in that capacity at the county court house in Winterset.
He was married in 1930 at Fairmont, Minnesota to Lillie Maud Utsler who survives him.
During World War I he served in the U. S. armed forces and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the I.O.O.F. Lodge. He was a member of the Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Dick McCauley of San Leandro, California; three step-sons, Joe Utsler of Peru, John Utsler of Sunnyville, California and Merle Utsler of Carlisle; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a siser, Mrs. Rebecca Conklin of Wintersest.
He is also survived by a grandson, Billy Utsler of San Diego, California, who they raised in their home.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Fuenral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. E. E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian Church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery with military honors by the Winterset post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
