Services Held For Former Resident

Funeral services were held from St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in West Des Moines Saturday morning for Mrs. O. F. (Hallie) Groom. Father Robert Hedges officiated at the services.

Hallie Gordon Groom was born in Madison County June 18, 1903, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon and died at the University Hospital in Iowa City May 2nd. Mrs Groom had been a patient at a Des Moines hospital until being moved to Iowa City, where she died while undergoing surgery. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery.

She was married in 1939 to O. F. Groom, whose death occurred five years ago. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Gladys. Surviving relatives include a sister, Mrs. Bernard Morrissey of Winterset and two brothers, Charles Gordon and Harold Gordon, both of Winterset, and a niece, who was raised in their home, Annabelle Kelleher of Des Moines.

Mrs. Groom was an independent agent for Thomas D Murphy advertising.

Among those attending the services Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Morrissey, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gordon, Mr. and Mrs Charles O Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gordon and Mrs. Ellsworth Schirm of Winterset, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Morrissey and daughter of LeMars, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gavitt and son of Marion, Miss Jean Morrissey and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Morrissey of Fort Dodge.
