Des MoinesClair Christensen, 81, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at his home. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2008 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th in Des Moines. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery in Madison County.
Clair was born March 13, 1927 to Chris and Waunita Christensen in Earlham, Iowa. He lived most of his life in Berwick. January 15, 1950, he married his love, Barbara Jean Brown. After retiring from SuperValu Warehouse and as a brother Teamster in 1984, he and Barbara moved to Phoenix before finally settling back in the Des Moines area.
Clair is survived by his nine children: Louise (Creely) Woods, Clair, Jr. (Sue), & Randy (Linda), Denise Grove, Bruce (Olivia), Marty (Linda), Scott (Debby), & Kevin (Deb) and Angel Jensen; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Wilbur and Ivan Christensen, and Helen McKnight.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his children, Rebecca Lynn and Bartley Craig.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
