LEONARD CAMP, Osceola

Leonard J. Camp, 91, of Osceola died March 12, 2008, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.
Services were held Saturday, March 15, at Kale Funeral Home with Pastor Brian McCacken officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery in Clarke County. Contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial to be decided at a later date.

Leonard Camp was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Troy Township, Clarke County, to Ephriam J. and Clara (Kirk) Camp. He received his education in Clarke County country schools and attended Peru High School. Leonard also was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. His marriage to Gladys “Ruth” Stark took place May 3, 1942, in Jefferson City, Mo. Leonard spent most of his life in Clarke County, farming in Fremont Township. He retired in 1979. He was a member of American Legion Davis-Pence Post 69, NFO, and the First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant son, Leonard Jean; a sister, Burla Stephenson, and two brothers, Clifford Camp and Benjamin Camp.

He is survived by one daughter, Judy Matton of Omaha, Neb.; one son, John Camp of Osceola; a brother, Clell Camp of Osceola; a sister, Waunita Siefkas of Murray; and four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
