ALBERT DeWITT, Winterset

Services for Albert DeWitt, 84, Winterset, who died Oct. 8, 1988, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at the North McDonald Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on July 3, 1904, he was the son of Jessie and Mabel Brittain DeWitt. He was a retired farmer and had lived his lifetime in Madison County. Mr. DeWitt was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was raised by his grandparents, Seth and Lucy Brittain and Mary Allen, a daughter of Seth and Lucy. He was married to Fontella Holmes on April 14, 1925 at Winterset.

Survivors include a son, Keith of Gladbrook, Iowa; daughters, Donna Myers of Sacramento, Calif., and Cathy Sue Kelly of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, parents and an infant grandson.
