EDWARD DAVIS, Rock Island, Ill.

Graveside services for Edward Davis, 69, Rock Island, Ill., who died Friday, Sept. 30, 1988, at Franciscan Medical Center in Rock Island, were held Monday, Oct. 3, at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246.

Mr. Davis was born July 17, 1919 in Winterset. He married Shirley Hunt on Sept. 30, 1967 in Buffalo Prairie, Ill.

He was employed as a construction laborer, working through Laborers Union Local 309, Rock Island. He retired in 1984. He was a World War II Army veteran and fought in the Rhineland Campaign and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His mother was Marie Burke, a school teacher in the rural schools of Madison County.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kevin S., at home; and sisters, Doris Vulcano, Des Moines, and Margaret Horton, Bellevue, Neb.
