SAMUEL MARTIN Services at St. Charles

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 8, from the United Methodist Church in St. Charles for Samuel Wallace Martin, who died at the age of 76 in Osceola, Monday, April 5, 1976, at Clarke County Hospital.

The son of N. Weedle and Myrtle Wallace Martin, Samuel Martin was born April 5, 1900 near LaParirie Center, Illinois. The family moved to Warren county while he was a boy. He was a graduate of Indianola High School.

The marriage of Samuel Martin and Nora E. Amos of Indianola took place May 25, 1918. The couple had three sons and in 1924 the family moved to a homestead near St. Charles.

Mr. Martin was a retired farmer, active in recent years as a carpenter. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church of St. Charles and was Past Master of Model Lodge No. 315 A.F. and A.M. and a member of Model Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Martin served on the St. Charles school board.

Survivors include his wife, Nora, two sons, Samuel Amos and Ramon Wallace, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also two brothers, Roger of Indianola and Dr. C. J. Martin of Seattle, Washington. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Meredith.

Burial was made at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola.
