BENJAMIN F. CHURCH

Benjamin F. Church was born in Warren, Ohio, Oct. 5, 1839 and died at his home in Des Moines, Oct 7, 1917 at the age of 78 years.

He grew to manhood in Warren county, Ohio, moving with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, in 1855. He united with the Church of Christ when a young man. He was joined in wedlock to Matilda J. Cline, Jan. 1, 1860. To this union were given four sons: Davis S. Church of Nowlin, S.D., Clyde J. Church of Boulder, Colo., Frank E. Church and Fred S. Church of Des Moines. During this time he moved to Colorado, residing there for nine years for the benefit of his health. His health still failing him, he moved to Des Moines, remaining here the rest of his days.

He served three years in the Civil War.

He leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife and four sons, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Herren of Macksburg, Mrs. Emma Macumber of Winterset, a stepmother, half sister, two half brothers living in Nebraska and three half brothers living in Oklahoma.

The funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ by Rev. Clarence Eppard on Monday at 10 o'clock, the G.A.R. attending in a body. Interment was made in Rock City cemetery.
