Thursday, December 6, 1906

Mrs. Melissa Bishop, widow of William Bishop, passed away at her home in the east part of town on Thanksgiving day, after a long illness. The deceased was born in Johnson co., Ind. in 1834. She was one of the early settlers of this county, having lived here since 1854.

She is survived by four children, all of whom are married and live in this county. They are Mrs. Thomas Faux of Union twp., Mrs. Thomas Smith of Grand River twp., Mrs. John Smith, and Mrs. Etta Hamner and Oliver Bishop, all of Winterset. Funeral Services were held on Saturday afternoon and burial made in the Winterset Cemetery.
