MARY MONAGHAN Dies at 83 Years

Mrs. Mary Jane Monaghan of Winterset, a resident of Madison county for 56 years, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1971 at Memorial hospital here. She was 83 years of age.

Mrs. Monaghan was a native of Des Moines, where she was born and spent her early life. She was a daughter of William and Mary McCauley McKinley.

She was married in Des Moines, Aug 3, 1915, to John F. Monaghan of near Winterset. They made their home on a farm near Winterset until his death in 1929. Shortly after the death of her husband, Mrs. Monaghan moved into Winterset.

Over a long period of years she was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset.

She is survved by two sons, John Monaghan and William J. Monaghan; a daughter, Mary Joan Monaghan; two granddaughters, Mary Marguerite and Ann Monaghan; and three sisters, Mrs. Ann Doris, Mrs. Frances Mallory, and Mrs Grace Wilson.

Rosary was recited for Mrs. Monaghan Tuesday evening from the Collins Funeral home, with requiem Mass this Wednesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church. The V. Rev. Msgr. John W Higgins, pastor of St. Joseph's church, led the rosary and conducted the Mass. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
