Death of MRS. A. F. BURGER

Mrs. Laura Mueller Burger died at her home in Winterset on January 7th, 1922, after a short illness. She underwent a serious operation several years ago which wrought improvement in her health. On New Year's Day she attended church and taught her Bible class. Later in the Day, she was taken ill in a manner similar to many previous attacks. her condition rapidly grew critical, resulting in death on Saturday.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternon at the United Presbyterian church, burial taking place in the Jefferson cemetery, near her old home.

Mrs. Burger is survived by her husband and three sons: August, George and Louis; her parents as well as her brothers and sisters: hers being the first break in the George Mueller family.

Devotion to family and church were outstanding characteristics in her life. She was a loyal member of Pitzer Woman's Relief Corps taking a leading part in its activities, especially in the relief of the needy and suffering. Her death is a distinct loss to this community, which mourns with the family in this great bereavement.

Mrs. August Burger

Laura M. Mueller Burger was born May 15, 1868, in Union township, Madison county, Iowa and departed this life January 7, 1922 age 53 years, 7 months and 22 days.

She was raised and educated in the north part of the county. As a young lady she taught school and music in the vicinity of St. Charles.

She was married to August F. Burger December 31, 1896. After living in Des Moines and then on the farm they came to Winterset in 1912. Three sons, August F. Jr., George Mueller and Louis Herman the husband, her father and mother and four brothers and two sisters remain to mourn her loss.

She is the first of her family to pass into the heavenly home. She was converted and joined the U. B. church at North River. After coming to Winterset she transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian church.

She was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps, the Parent teachers’ Association. She was active in the work of the church and in every community enterprise. About two years ago she underwent an operation at Mayo Bros. hospital. She had appeared better for a few weeks. new Years day she attended church and taught the Ladies’ Bible class.

Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church Monday at 1:30 p. m. and then taken to the Jefferson U. B. church and a second service held, Rev. Malone preaching both sermons. The body was laid to rest in the Jefferson cemetery.
