Death of GEORGE F. CASEY

The funeral services of George F. Casey of Des Moines, were held on Tuesday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Saml. Murphy. He was injured on November 30th, 1921 when the automobile in which he was riding, was struck by a street car. Mr. Casey suffered a fractured collar bone, broken nose, broken right leg and injured jaw. He died on Sunday at a hospital in Des Moines.

George Casey was a native of Winterset, attended our public schools, and learned the printers' trade here. He has been following that business in Des Moines for several years, being employed on the Daily Capital.

Mr. Casey visited this office a few weeks ago, was in excellent health and enjoying life. His companion in the accident, D. W. Wheeler, was not critically injured, although badly hurt.

Besides his mother, a sister, Mrs. Emma McDowell and a brother, Walter, all of Des Moines survive him.

FORMER WINTERSET PRINTER DIES OF INJURIES IN DES MOINES HOSPITAL

Was Office Devil, Printer and Foreman. Born in Winterset. A Fatal Collision

George Casey, linotype operator on the Des Moines Capital, was fatally injured when an auto in which he was returning from a banquet collided with a streetcar in East Des Moines. Casey’s nose, collarbone, and leg were broken and he received other serious cuts and bruises. He died in the hospital three days after the accident. The funeral occurs today at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sam Murphy.

George Casey was born in Winterset where his father was a shoemaker. He commenced work in The News office as office devil when thirteen years old and remained with this office eight or ten years. He was Foreman of the office for three or four years. He was made foreman of one of the departments of the Des Moines News the second week after taking a job in that office. He worked in Chicago and finally returned to Des Moines.

George Casey was a bighearted whole souled man and made friends wherever he went. He was a fine all-around printer and a rapid workman. He is survived by his mother and his sister, Emma and his brother Walter Casey, all of Des Moines.
