Wednesday, May 4, 1921MRS. ELIZABETH BROCK
Mrs. Elizabeth Brock, widow of the late Jonas Brock, passed away Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Hunter of Earlham, at the age of 85 years. She had been failing rapidly during the past year and about a month ago went to Earlham to remain with her daughter while her son, Frank B., with whom she made her home here, was absent on business.
Mr. and Mrs. Brock came to Madison county in 1855, hence she had lived continuously in this county over a period of 66 years. With her husband, she shared the vicissitudes of pioneer life. Mr. Brock was prominently identified with the affairs of this county during the years of its upbuilding and in all these activities, his faithful companion bore her full part. Her then young husband was among the first to go to the defense of his country. He suffered the privations of prison life, but was spared to return to his family, afterwards serving as sheriff of the county.
Both took long and active part in the work of the Methodist church being charter members of the West Star church.
Two children, Ex-sheriff Frank B. Brock of this place and Chas. Brock of Des Moines, are the remaining members of the family.
