RHODA FIELD DELONG

Rhoda R. Field was born Feb 1, 1839, in Putman county, Ind., and passed to her eternal reward Dec. 31, 1920, at the home of her son, T. C. Delong, Truro, Iowa, aged 81 years, 10 months, 30 days.

In 1850 she moved from Putman county, Ind., to Illinois, near Carthage, from where she emigrated the following year to Clarke county, Iowa, near Osceola. She was united in marriage to William Delong April 10, 1856.

To this union nine children were born, five girls and four boys, three of whom, two daughters and one son, have preceded her to the great beyond. The children are: Mrs. Ella Ellis of Macon, Mo.; Mrs. Retta Coper, Horatio, Courter, Alonzo Delong and Mrs. May Jones, all of Truro. Her husband passed to his eternal home on Sept. 13, 1900.

Mrs. Delong was a charter member of the Christian church that was organized during the winter of 1856-57. In 1914 she changed her membership to Oak Run Christian church. She has always been a consistent christian, a loving companion, a devoted affectionate mother. To know her was to love her.

She leaves to mourn their loss six children, twenty three grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. R. L. Raybourn on Saturday, Jan. 1, at the Truro Christian church and the remains were laid to rest in the Fields cemetery.
