Howard Jesse Hester, 87, of Torrington, CT, formerly of Knoxville, Iowa died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Litchfield Woods Nursing Home. He was the husband of 44 years of Marjorie (Wagner) Hester.

Howard was born in Earlham, Iowa, on August 23, 1920, son of the late Jesse and Olive (Hockett) Hester. He served in the US Navy as a Quartermaster, First Class on PT boats and later worked and retired from the Veterans' Psychiatric Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa after 27 years. He was a very active member of his church.

In addition to his wife, Marjorie, Howard is survived by his children; Lynne (Mike) Peterson of Indianola, Iowa. Faye Scribner of Torrington, CT Ruth (Kenny) Fridlington of Knoxville, Iowa Kevin Hester of Chandler, Texas and Kalen (Scott) Petersen of Huxley, IA; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, at 11 a.m. at the Living Word Fellowship Church in Knoxville. Burial will be at a later date.
