Miss Mary Ettie Weeks, daughter of William H. and Mary A. Weeks, was born on Nov. 14, 1864 and died in Des Moines, Ia. April 1st 1899.

She was born in Madison Co., Ia., and grew to womanhood on the farm of her parents.

At the age of 23 years she entered the public schools as a teacher and continued therein for ten years. In this line of work, having a love for her work and her pupils, as well as due diligence and being of an amiable disposition she never failed of fair success. Her health beginning to fail she was advised to seek a change of climate in Colorado, which she did and with beneficial results. But her love for home called her back, just for a visit in Nov. 1897. She did not return. Her health would not permit.

She never united with any church but took interest in churches and church work as well. There remain to mourn her departure a father, mother, five brothers, three sisters and a host of friends who learned to love her more as they knew her better.
