Rebecca A. Cain-Dorsey was born in Cochorton county, Ohio, October 13, 1839. When a child she moved with her parents to Adams county, Ill., where she lived until 1874, when she was married to C. H. Dorsey and removed to Madison county, where she resided until the time of her death.

In early womanhood she was converted and united with the Presbyterian church and later with the M. E. church, of which she was a consistent member at the time of her death. She leaves a husband, one son, four sisters and five brothers to mourn the loss of a devoted wife, a loving mother, a kind and gentle sister. Her illness was of short duration, lasting only two days when she passed peacefully and calmly away on the evening of July 16.

The funeral occurred from the Wesley M. E. church Thursday, July 18, and the body interred in the Wight cemetery amid a large concourse of sorrowing friends and neighbors who will miss the kind and willing hand that was ever ready to help in time of need.
