MABLE TRINDLE, WINTERSET

Mable Trindle, 100, of Winterset and a former longtime resident of the Adel and Van Meter areas, died Feb. 9, 2008, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Feb. 13) at the Adel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery in Madison County. Memorials will be directed to the Adel Public Library Foundation. Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel & Funeral Services in Winterset.

Mable Trindle was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Andale, Kan., to John and Edith (Huston) Lauterbach. Her marriage to Fred Roscoe Trindle took place Oct. 12, 1927, in West Des Moines. A homemaker, she lived in the Van Meter and Adel areas for most of her life. Mable was a longtime member of the Adel Garden Club and Van Meter Study Club. She also was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Paul Lauterbach, Joseph Lauterbach and John Clair Lauterbach; and two sisters, Mary Pritchard and Ethel Shires.

She is survived by one son, Barry Trindle of Earlham; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mable Trindle, 100, of Adel and Van Meter died Saturday, Feb. 9, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Adel United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Burial followed at Union Chapel Cemetery at Madison County.

Mable was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Andale, Kan., the daughter of John and Edith (Huston) Lauterbach. She was married to Fred Roscoe Trindle Oct. 12, 1927, in West Des Moines.

Mable lived most of her life in the Van Meter and Adel area. She had been a homemaker. She had been a longtime member of the Adel Garden Club and the Van Meter Study Club. She was also a member of the Adel United Methodist Church.

Mable loved to bake, but was especially known for her china painting and oil paintings. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Hawkeyes and the Cubs. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed birds.

Mable is survived by her son Barry (Delpha) Trindle of Earlham; grandchildren Vicki Sanders and Todd Trindle; and great-grandchildren Daniel Trindle, James Trindle, Benjamin Sanders and William Sanders.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith (Huston) Lauterbach; husband, Fred Trindle; brothers Paul Lauterbach, Joseph Lauterbach, and John Clair Lauterbach; and sisters Mary Pritchard and Ethel Shires.

Memorial given to the family will be directed to Adel Public Library Foundation. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel & Funeral Services in Winterset.
