RUBY MOFFITT, WINTERSET

Ruby Ellen Moffitt, 86, of Winterset died Feb. 4, 2008, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 8, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset. Burial was at Green Lawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorials will be directed to Madison Square Apartments.

Ruby Moffitt was born March 2, 1921, to Clarence and Persus (Henderson) Zuber of Afton and was a graduate of Afton High School. Her marriage to Robert Edward Moffitt took place June 21, 1939, in Afton. Ruby was a secretary for the Des Moines Public Schools for many years. She was a resident of Union County, living in the Afton and Lorimor areas, until 1965, when she moved to Des Moines. For the past year, she was a resident of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Omar Zuber; and a great-grandson, Samuel Grandfield.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda K. Kelley of Osage Beach, Mo., and Lana G. Grandfield of Winterset; a sister, Violet J. Means of West Des Moines; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
