SARAH A. RICKETTS

Died at her home in Walnut township, February 22, 1899 at 12:20 o'clock, Mrs. Sarah A. Ricketts, aged 51 years, 10 months and 7 days.

She had been dangerously ill only a few days until death came to her relief. All medical aid was summoned but nothing could be done; while loving friends and relatives surrounded her bedside, the angel of death swept by and she was gone to a better world than this. Her last moments were peaceful and serene. For more than twenty years of her life she had been a true and devoted Christian and at the last words expressed her faith in God and that all was well.

Rev. Paul Gardner preached the funeral sermon on Thursday afternoon from I Cor: 15: 41.

Miss Russell was born in New York and while quite young was married to Wm. Ricketts who preceded her to the grave about three and a half years ago. Eight children were born to them: two died when quite small; and five sons and a daughter still survive her, the youngest being eleven years old. They moved to this county about ten years ago.

The remains were laid beside her husband in the Barney cemetery, followed by a long procession of relatives and friends. The children have the sympathy of all in their sadness.

Obituary

Died Feb. 22d, 1899, at her home in Walnut township, Mrs. Sarah Ricketts, aged 51 years 10 months 7 days.

Miss Russell was born in New York April 15th, 1847, and while quite young was married to Wm. Ricketts, who preceeded her to the grave about three and one-half years ago. Eight children were born to them. Two died while small and five sons and one daughter still survive her. The deceased moved with her husband to Madison county in 1889 where she has since resided.

Mrs. Ricketts had been dangerously ill but a few days when death came to her relief. All that medical aid and loving hands could do was done, while loved ones surrounded her bedside the angel of death swept by and she had gone to that mansion prepared for her in Heaven. Her last moments were peaceful and serene. For more than twenty years she had been a true and devoted Christian, and at the last words expressed her faith in God and that all was well. And thus she crossed over the river of death, made like a silver stream by the presence of the blessed Redeemer.

The funeral services occurred Thursday, conducted by Rev. Paul Gardner. The remains were laid beside those of her husband in the Barney cemetery.
