Mary Graham Bird was born May 16, 1838 in Bovina, Delaware county, New York.
She came to this county with her parents in 1856. In 1859 she was married to Butler Bird who preceded her to the better land by about two years and a half.
Six children were born to them. One died in infancy and five are living in this county, and were with their mother during her last illness. They were Mrs. Eva Farris, Mrs. Jessie Miles, Mrs. Clyde Patterson, Mrs. May Howell and Mr. Graham Bird. Her grandchildren number ten.
Early in life she made a profession of her faith in Christ and has since been a consistent member of the church-a helpful worker in the Sunday school.
Her mother, one sister and five brothers survive her. Her affliction because of its nature, was very trying and often painful but she bore it all withour murmur of complaint. She expressed her willingness to go to her heavenly home, whenever the summons came. About two o'clock on Friday, September 29, she entered into her rest.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Allen Hickey at the Christian church at Patterson, October 1. He spoke in loving tribute of her devoted Christian life.
Ripened in years and fully prepared for another state of existence, she passes on now to enjoy this reward of a life well spent on earth.
