Roy Folwell Dies at Age 89

A baliff at the Madison County Courthouse from 1960 to 1970, Roy C. Folwell, 89, died Sunday, November 7, 1976 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was born November 28, 1886 at Patterson, Iowa, the son of Warren A. and Helen Kinnard Folwell.

The sixth of nine children in his family, Mr. Folwell was married to Fern Coen in 1919 at the Patterson Methodist Parsonage. She preceded him in death December 11, 1957.

A resident of Madison County most of his life, Mr. Folwell was a custodian at the Pratt Paper Company for over 15 years and worked at the courthouse before his retirement to Manor North.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Etta Riley of Winterset and Mrs. Dulcie Dyer of Des Moines. Mr. Folwell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Lewis and four sisters.

Services for Roy Folwell were conducted Wednesday November 10, at 1:30 p.m. from Patterson Methodist Church where he was a member. Burial was made at the Mt. Pelier Cemetery, Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating.
