Death of Mrs. Verne St. John

Mrs. Verne St. John, the former Miss Fannie Mueller, of Jefferson township, died Tuesday evening, November 26th at her home in Powell, Wyoming, after a short illness with pneumonia. Mrs. St. John who was 48 years of age, was a daughter of the late George Meuller. She attended the Winterset high school, and the Iowa state teachers college in Cedar Falls.

In 1910 she went to Sheridan, Wyoming to teach school and two years later she was married to Mr. St. John of Sheridan. They made their home in Sheridan, until May 1930 they moved to Powell, where Mr. St. John owned and operated a drug store.

Mrs. St. John leaves her husband and their son, Robert age 14, also her aged mother, who makes her home with the other sister, Mrs. Steve Brittain of Lisbon, North Dakota, and four brothers, Ernest of Jefferson township, Oscar O. of Lewistown, Montana, Herman of St. Charles and George of Tioga, North Dakota.

MRS. L. V. ST. JOHN DIES IN WYOMING

Mrs. L. V. St. John, the former Fanny Mueller, died Tuesday, November 26, at her home in Powell, Wyoming. She had been ill but a few days, developing influenza-pneumonia, which caused her death.

Mrs. St. John was well known in Winterset, attending the Winterset high school and afterward teaching at Bennett school in Madison township, in the Brittain or Stone school, the Doak school in Jefferson township and one term at the Farris in Union.

She was the youngest daughter of George and Katherine Mueller and was born on the Mueller farm in Union township April 5, 1885. She attended school at Jefferson No. 7. After teaching in the county she attended State Teachers college at Cedar Falls, graduating with the class of 1904. She then taught at Callender, Slater, and Clear Lake and in 1910 went to Sheridan, Wyoming, to teach two years. Her marriage to Mr. St. John took place September 17, 1912 at Winterset.

The couple lived as Sheridan until 1929, when Mr. St. John sold his drug business travel for a year. During that time the family visited in Madison county. In 1930 they moved to Powell where he again went into the drug business.

Mrs. St. John was active in the social and religious life of Powell, a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Epasc club, Eastern Stars, P.E.O., and the Library club.

She leaves her husband, a son Bobby, 14, her aged mother, who lives with her daughter, Mrs. Theresa Brittain at Lisbon, North Dakota; four brothers, Herman of St. Charles; Ernest of Van Meter on the farm; George at Tioga, North Dakota; an Oscar of Lewiston, Montana; and her sister, Mrs. Brittain. Her father died September 25, 1922 and a sister, Mrs. Laura Burger in January 1922.

Services were held Friday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church at Powell and burial made near there.
