Alexander Preston

Alexander Preston was born at Mazon, Illinois, on November 19, 1854, and passed away at the home of his son, Leslie, at Earlham, Iowa, on August 9, 1935, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 20 days. The earlier years of his life were spent in Illinois.

He was married to Sally Anna Ragan on December 14, 1874 and to this union were born three sons, Ray, who preceded him in death, Warner, of Canton, Kansas, and Leslie of Earlham, Iowa. In 1909, Mr. Preston moved to Canton, his sons and their families moving at the same time.

He united with the Church of God in Illinois when he was a young man, and later with the Christian church at Canton. In both of these churches he served as an elder for many years, and has always been a faithful worker in the church.

His wife preceded him in death seven years ago. He then moved to Earlham where he made his home with his son, Leslie. His health began to fail over a year ago, and he passed away last Friday, August 9.

He leaves to mourn his going his two sons, Warner of Canton and Leslie of Earlham, two granddaughters, Mrs. John Maddox of Lamar, Colorado, and Lorraine of Earlham, also a brother, Harlan Preston of Mazon, Illinois, together with other relatives and a host of friends.
