Donald LeRoy Brady, 69, of Des Moines went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2007 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home.

Don was born to Harold and Eva (Herren) Brady on December 14, 1937 in Macksburg, Iowa. He graduated from North High School (Des Moines) in 1956 and attended Grandview Junior College. He played basketball and baseball for both North and Grandview. He also served three years in the Iowa National Guard. In 1966 he married Therese (Terri) Roth and they were blessed with 40 years together.

He was a long-time employee of David Bear Inc. in Des Moines, where he worked as a structural steel detailer. He retired in 1999 and spent the last few years enjoying time with his family and traveling. Don was an avid fisherman and enjoyed photography, bowling, the Chicago Cubs and following all the local sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Terri; his two daughters, Beth (Curt) Gerlach of Ladera Ranch, CA. and Julie (Barry) Willoughby of Des Moines; his two sons, Mark (Julie) Brady of Urbandale and Mike Brady of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Jason and Christy Gerlach; Michael and Matthew Trotter; and Jenna and Nicholas Brady; a great grandchild, Andrew Gerlach, two brothers, Dennis (Linda) Brady of Tempe, AZ and David (Susan) Brady of Urbandale; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Faye Brady.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
