NORM BIRCHER, WINTERSET

Norm Bircher, 58, of Winterset died Jan. 23, 2008, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.

Norm Bircher was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Storm Lake to Fredrick and Jeanette (Christiansen) Bircher and was a graduate of Sac City High School. His marriage to Beverly Whitney took place Dec. 30, 1989, in Winterset. Norm worked for Kirkpatrick Meat Locker for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was recently baptized on Easter 2007. He also was a member of the United Bowlers Conference.

He was preceded in death by his father and a stepson, Terry Scheuermann.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Winterset; his mother, Jeanette Bircher of Storm Lake; four stepchildren, Tim Scheuermann, John Scheuermann, Joy Schraven, and Billy Conant, all of Winterset; a guardian son, Taylor Scheuermann of Winterset; four brothers, Steven Bircher of Eau Claire, Wis., Neil Bircher of Van Meter, Dan Bircher of Sheridan, Wyo., and Scott Bircher of Kansas City, Kan.; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
