William H. Wilson

William H. Wilson, son of John W. and Mary Wilson, was born in Keokuk county, Iowa, Feb. 5, 1862. When Mr. Wilson was 20 years of age, the family moved to Madison county, onto the farm where he has ever since lived. He was united in marriage to Ida M. Orton, Feb. 19, 1891. To this union seven children were born, two dying in infancy. Those surviving are: Dempsey, Louis, Glen and Verl of Winterset and Ersie of Wagner, S. D. They also have an adopted sister Blanche, who has lived with them in the home. Mrs. Wilson passed away last April.

Mr. Wilson united with the Pleasant View M. E. church soon after his marriage and for many years was an active member until his failing health prevented. He took an active part in the affairs of the community until Mrs. Wilson's sickness and his own ill health kept him in the home. He was known for his thrift and honesty and was a kind father. He passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1924, aged 62 years, 9 months and 22 days. He leaves to mourn their loss, besides his children, five brothers: Clark and Coates of Winterset, John of Wessington Springs, S. D.; Mack of Portland, Ore., and George of Nampa, Idaho; also four sisters: Mrs. Rollen Walker of Winterset, Mrs. James Greenfield of Oskaloosa, Mrs. James Acheson of Osceola and Mrs. John Drake of Vinton and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Pleasant View M. E. church, Saturday afternoon at 1:30 Rev. LeRoy C. Cooley, D. D. pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery.

Death of William H. Wilson

William H. Wilson, a resident of Webster township for more than forty years, died at his home on Tuesday of last week. He had been failing in health for the past year and his decline became more marked after the death of his wife which occurred last April. Mr. Wilson came to Madison county with his parents, who moved here from Keokuk county in 1882. He was 62 years of age. Five sons and one daughter by adoption are bereft by his death. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant View church on Saturday and burial in the Walker cemetery.
