Benjamin Nelson Clark was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, Feb. 19, 1855 and died at his home in Madison county, Iowa, June 10, 1919 aged sixty-four years, three months and twenty-two days. He came to Madison county, Iowa with his parents in 1859 where he continued to reside until his death.
He was married to Nancy E. Getchell, Sept. 7, 1878 who preceeded him in death, March 8, 1899. To this union was born four children, Ivor W., Charles C., George, Thurman B., and Mrs. Bessie E. Caudle, all of whom survive him, except George who died at two years of age. Again he was united in marriage to Mrs. Lola E. Clark Oct. 13, 1914 who survives him; together with his four children, four grandchildren, three sisters and one brother and a host of friends.
He united with the North River United Brethren church about twenty-five years ago. He loved his family and his home. He was a consistent Christian, a kind and loving husband, a loyal citizen and a good neighbor.
He bore his great suffering for three years with patience and fortitude. He was cheerful and hopeful. He was not afraid to die and looked forward to a home beyond.
He was nursed and cared for throughout his affliction most tenderly by his loving wife, whose efforts to lighten his burdens, are most heartily appreciated by his children and many friends.
Funeral services were held at North Branch Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the McDonald cemetery.
